Naava. She burst onto the scene early this year doing a style of music rarely tried by Ugandan musicians. Pop rock is a fairly accurate assessment of her style. You see she doesnt have many songs yet so she is still a wild card. But a very good wild card. At least judging by her recent single called Nteredde. Its a nice pop song, although less funky when compared to her other first single called Aliba Waani, a song that did surprisingly well considering its style. Well off course credit has to be given to the people behind the artist, guys like Steve Jean and Fenon records. Steve is one of the oldest custodians of urban music in Uganda and was the first to do R&B. He later brought us artists like I-J and Michael Ross. Now Naava.
Her style will be common to those that listen to music by female pop rock artists like Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne. Locally, the only other artist that is similar to her would be Rachel K, although her dubious vocal ability has kept her hidden for long. Not Naava. I dont think she will remain hidden. She is that good. Especially if she continues on this path.
