Young Money rap star Drake finds himself atop the list for the most illegally downloaded single within the U.S.A.
Drake had himself a solid 2011 with the release of his immensely successful sophomore album dubbed ‘Take Care.’ The album was quickly certified platinum and earned Drake several platinum plaques for singles off of the album including the fan favorite ‘The Motto.’
‘The Motto’ was easily one of the most buzzed about singles on the project, and so it comes as no surprise that the single was leading the illegal download charts as well as the legal ones.
Although the single was downloaded over 1 million times legally, a recent report from Spin indicates that the single was also downloaded an astounding 458,038 times illegally. It’s worth nothing that Drake’s ‘Take Care’ album has earned him 5 gold and platinum singles plaques for legal downloads.
