CNN Names Rapper Nas “The Greatest Lyricist Of All Time”

CNN calls Queens based rapper Nas the “greatest lyricist of all time” as the rapper approaches his 40th birthday.

With 10 successful albums under his belt during his 20 plus year rap career, nine of which have debuted at number one, Nas has certainly experienced plenty of commercial success. What’s been more interesting to see with Nas though is the fact that he’s never strayed far from his roots proving that you don’t need to sell out to sell albums.

As the rapper approaches his 40th birthday this year, CNN thought it fitting to crown the emcee “the greatest lyricist of all time.”

“It’s wayyyyyy, way, way too early in our lives,” Nas stated in regards to the list of best emcees “It’s great to put a list together, but don’t take it too seriously because your list won’t matter 10 years from now or 15 years from now. It’ll be a different list.”

Nas also went on to explain that he is not at fault for being both socially responsible while a “glorifier of violence” at the same time.

“Don’t blame me; blame our wonderful country, America,” explains the Queensbridge emcee. “And you can’t even blame America. It’s life. Blame life. I talk about life, and I make universal music with an American style — and that’s what I do,” he said. “I know one thing: People put too many labels on music.”

Nas released his tenth studio album ‘Life Is Good’ during 2012 to positive reviews across the board.
