Cash Money Records CEO - Birdman Backs Lil Wayne’s “I Don’t Like New York” Comment

Following Lil Wayne’s remark that he doesn’t like New York, Cash Money general Birdman has stepped in to backup Weezy. Wayne’s remark almost immediately prompted a response from New York Senator Malcolm Smith who demanded an apology from the rapper, but now it looks like the YMCMB camp isn’t going to oblige.

Birdman explained that he has Wayne’s back and implied that if Weezy doesn’t like the city, neither does his camp. “Well, to me, I feel personally whatever my son say, I’ma ride with. So if he say he don’t like it, that’s what it is. He don’t like it, we don’t like it. I don’t like it if he don’t like it. If he say it, that’s law,” Birdman told Fuse.

It’s hardly surprising that Wayne would hold a grudge against the city his arrest on weapons charges in Manhattan. The rapper subsequently served an eight month sentence on Rikers Island after he entered a guilty plea to the charges.

Senator Smith called a press conference to express his dismay at the comments and indicated that he was willing to forgive Weezy if the rapper offered a formal apology, but with Birdman’s backing the Senator might have to wait a longtime before he gets a response from Wayne. (theversed)
