Tusker Project Fame: Ruth Matete Wins The 5 Million Kshs

The East African Music Competition, Tusker Project Fame - Season 5 that saw 15 contestants compete for 5 million KShs ended today (Sunday 29th July 2012). The show that lasted eight weeks came to an end as Ruth Matete from Kenya was crowned winner amidst celebrations.

Ruth who couldn’t believe her luck when she was announced winner of Tusker Project fame 5 by Judge Gerrard. She then lied on the ground taken up by a mixture of emotion. When asked by TPF presenter Sheila to give remarks about her win, Ruth was lost for words. She could only manage to thank her maker for making her reach this great moment in her life. “Thank you God” She said.

In 4th place was big Joe from Burundi who was closely followed by Jackson Kalimba from Rwanda. Doreen took up the second position according to the public vote both via text and online.

When Ruth was announced winner, Judge Ian could not hide his excitement as he stood up in respect of the great TPF star. Ruth Matete then sang the song she did last week on the same stage. Halleluyah, Judge Ian could not help but sing along.

The finale also saw guest performances from Kenya’s biggest hip hop act, Camp Mulla and a Kenyan Micheal Jackson wanna be performer, Samuel Gitau who electrified the live audience and the fans at home (judging by the tweets).

The winner of TPF5, in this case Kenya’s Ruth Matete won a whooping Kshs5m and a recording contract worth Kshs10 million.
