The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has set 5th July as the date for the 2013 Afcon qualifiers final draw. The draw that pits 30 teams against each other in a battle for 15 slots at South Africa 2013 final tournament will see the top 15 ranked sides according to the past three Nations cup tournament drawn against the other 15 sides.
According to Malawi world cup blog.com, it is assumed that the top team in pot 1 will play against team 30 in pot 2 and second team in pot 1 play team 29 in pot 2 and so on.
If that's the case, Uganda's opponents should come from the top five teams in Pot 1 that include Zambia, Ghana, Cote de'voire, Egypt and Mali. In case Egypt fails to beat Central African Republic, then Tunisia will join the top five. Uganda is currently ranked in the bottom five in pot 2.
Mean while, CAF has set 30th June as the date for the return leg match between CAR and Egypt. The Pharoahs shockingly lost the first leg 2-3 in Alexandria and will have to win the second leg in Bangui by at least 2-0 to advance.
In a related development, the draws for the final tournament will be held on 20th October in Johanesburg, South Africa.
The final tournament is slated to kick off on 19th January and end on 10th February. Kawowo sports will keep you posted on the developments.
