Love Him OR Hate Him, Dr. Jose Cha000000 is Uganda's Finest.
Forget about this self made hype that surrounds many of our Ugandan musicians. Jose Chameleone is a different musician in total. He can talk and later walk his talk. In fact, one of my comrades at work yesterday told me that Chameleone walks the talk and also walks the walk. That is how far this guy can be rated.
Yes all that rating and hype is worth it if events at Kyadondo Rugby grounds yesterday are anything to go by. By 9:00pm, when I reached Kyadondo, queues of fans waiting to enter stretched almost up to Shoprite Lugogo. By 10:00pm, Kyadondo Rugby was filled with thousands of fans that had come to watch Chameleone and his Leone Island government performing live in a show dubbed Valu Valu live.
At the end, this show set a new record as the biggest music show held in Kyadondo Rugby since July 11 2010. Ever since the tragic bombs that exploded at Kyadondo on July 11 2010, killing many people and injuring hundreds, there had never been any massive music show at Kyadondo like Valu Valu live. The success of Valu Valu unofficially re-opened the Rugby Club for more shows of a kind.
Re-acting to his new accomplishment, Jose Chameleone aka The Music Doctor said;
“Ever since the terrorists killed our people here, musicians, promoters and fans have been fearing this place. But me Chameleone, I go where many fear. I love challenges. We decided to hold our concert from here and people talked whatever they wanted. At the end, we have won. With these very big numbers, I have re-opened Kyadondo. You will soon hear musicians, promoters organizing more music shows here. I am the trend setter and that is it!,” Chameleone said adding:
“I would like to dedicate this concert to the souls of those that died here and those that were injured; we are with you our brothers and sisters. We are Ugandans and no one, not even terrorists should threaten us in our country.”
Dressed in a full army combat like a soldier ready for war, Chameleone stepped on stage after 10; 00pm and did live music taking three breaks.
During his performance, Chameleone also sent a message of love to his fellow musicians and rivals in the game.
“Even though Kyadondo is filled, I miss something. I would be much happier if my friend Bobi Wine and his wife Barbie, Bebe Cool and his wife Zuena, Radio and Weasel would be seated here with us, enjoying the music. Their presence would be a good thing.”
Chameleone performed close to thirty songs. These included Shida Za Dunia, Kipepewo, Nekolera Mali, Bomboclat, Bayuda, and Technology, Going on featuring Jackie Chandiru, Mukisa Gwo, Basiima Ogenze and Valu Valu. He together with Papa Cidy performed all their four collaborations; Joselina, Tolina Kisa, Daniela and Emeeme Katale.
Notably throughout his performance, Chameleone continuously spoke proudly about his younger brother AK47, his wife Daniela and his mother.
Chameleone performed together with members of the Leone island government that included AK47, Papa Cidy, Skeleton, and Young Mulo among others.
Minus the Leone island crew, a few other musicians also turned up to show support the music doctor. These included Navio, Jackie Chandiru, Ragga Dee, Eddie Kenzo and Big Talent crew, Jamal, Big Eye and Big Talent crew and Rock Gaint among others.
The show that started at 9:00 pm went on up to a few minutes to 1:00am when Chameleone performed valu Valu to a jubilant crowd.
It was a great show with great band (Soul band) sound (Silk Events), MCs (Kats and Salvador), performances and best of all an energetic audience. Money well spent!
