Introducing The Crop of New Female Arttistes.

When the young Divas performed one after another at the Diva Awards Grand Finale, I realized that Uganda is a country musically gifted by nature. From Natasha Sinayobye, gospel sensation Hindu Asha, vocally gifted Jermimah Sanyu, rising hip hop maestro LLB, G-Snake, Viva Stars to Liane the Artiste; I realized that we still have a lot of young and gifted female singers, who just need a platform to amp up their game.

I still remember each of their performances step for step and what impact each of them left on me. Hindu Asha’s gospel display left me with goose pimples. A friend of mine joked that with such a silky voice and strong vocals, Hindu Asha’s song had chased all the demons out of La Bonita just for the event to move on smoothly.

Then on came LLB (Last Lyrical Blessing)! If you take a first look at LLB, you will automatically tell she does Hip-Hop. Everything about her is in line with Hip-Hop; the way she walks, talks and dresses clearly indicates what genre of music she does. But most importantly, her performance did not disappoint.

Just as I was still wondering what else these young DIVAS could do, on stepped Jermimah! God oh my God, this girl has a voice! She started off with ‘Muna Uganda’ song and crowned it all when she sampled her latest release which she is doing with Navio. Jermimah’s was indeed a great display of expertise.

And as if to make an even bigger statement that young talent is ready to take over from the seniors; Liane the artiste wowed the audience with her hit single, ‘holiday’! Up to this point, I am talking about young and talented DIVAS who if given the opportunity, will take Ugandan music to another level.

I have always seen her with her snake on TV and there I was, face to face with G-Snake and her Python live on stage. Just as I was getting worried about why this snake was eyeing me, she told me it was female (that explains everything; a female snake was eyeing the hunk in me).

Then finally; Natasha Sinayobye’s stage act was a breath of freshness into the whole affair. First she did her ‘Butunda’ song with an Arabian feel. At this point; her costuming and choreography was all Arabian. But just before I knew it, Natasha and her back up had changed into Hip-Hop out fits and given ‘Butunda’ a Hip-Hop feel. Only God knows how she changed into another costume because she never left the stage even for a second.

All in all, this country has so many talented young DIVAS who are going to breath a new life into our music industry. All we need to do is give them a platform and a chance to showcase their talent.

The Reckless Family 4 ever...
