LIGHTS, GLAMOUR AT SEAN KINGSTON CONCERT.

By Andrea The Don.

Like the saying goes... This Opportunity comes in a Life Time...!!!!!
That's what was at Lugogo Cricket Oval when Ugandans witnessed the Concert of the Year where Jamaican Artiste Sean Kingston rocked the stage with Nigeria's Mr. Flavor.

By 11:49 pm Ugandan time, the long awaited first ever Sean Kingston live concert in Uganda had come to an end, leaving performers, fans, and sponsors all in full happiness. This show was earlier planned to take place in July but due to unforeseen circumstances, Sean Kingston got an accident and the concert had to be postponed to Friday 16th September.

The Massively attended Sean Kingston concert kicked off at 8:30 with curtain raising performances from local artists namely Atlas Da African, Gasuza Lwanga, Mighty Son, Michael Ross, Lillian Mbabazi, Navio, Vampino, Coco finger, Allan Toniks, AK47, Cindy, Jackie Chandiru, Big Trill, Mun G , The Myth and Goodlyfe. The national anthem was sung a few minutes before Moses radio and Weasel started performing giving another thing to brag about.

The disc jokers in charge were DJ Aludah and DJ Hypeman; the self proclaimed best spin Duo in town.

Before Mr Flavour, ‘the main curtain raiser of the show’, P Unit from Kenya came on stage with Kukyoto - Kuriya hit that drove the Swahili nationals crazy. They also performed their new hot collaboration with Lillian Mbabazi of Blu3.

At about 10:30, the stage was put to total darkness to usher in the long awaited hit maker Mr Flavour all the way from Lagos, Nigeria. He came on floor with his ‘Got to Go’ song, and performed a few other songs just before his Ugandan fans favourite hit Ashawo was done.

Shortly after Mr Flavour leaving stage, MCs of the day JK Kazoora, Salvado and Naava formerly of tusker project fame took on the stage. Salvado did all the comedy he was paid for and JK on the other hand played the PR role for the event organizers and sponsors, whereas Naava was majorly concerned about the performance time table.

In the no time, the MCs energetically welcomed the 21 year old American-Jamaican Hip hop, R&B, reggae superstar Kisean Anderson popularly known as Sean Kingston to come and take over the big colourful stage and perform to the thousands of impatient fans.

Sean Kingston was ushered to stage by his main stage man ‘Dj Twin’, who started the show with different mixes, local and international among which he played Jose Chameleone’s bring it down hit.

Dj Twin who seemed to have studied and understood what the crowd present actually loved, played a great role in preparing a massive welcome for Sean Kingston.

To my Surprise, the team was all ready to Rambo Uganda. This was evident from Sean Kingston’s first performance ‘Me Love’ a song that is one of Sean Kingston’s most favorite among Ugandan fans.

After Me Love, Sean Kingston did 3 other songs that were not really so popular among the local crowd.

Sean Kingston then did ‘Take You There’ and he went for short break to prepare to for the 2nd Sean Kingston Live concert session.

At this time, the MCs JK, Salvado, came back on stage to crack jokes, do their PR and cheer up the already high mood crowd.

After the break, Sean Kingston came back to Stage with a massive nonstop performance of a number of his hottest hits ever. He started with ‘Letting Go’ in which he features Nick Minaj, Beautiful Girls ‘ a song that Sean Kingston said was his first to write , when he was 17 years’. Beautiful girls was number one on charts for 17 weeks in 21 countries.

Thereafter, Sean Kingston did Fire Burning, shortly before he performed his last track ‘Why you wanna Go’. He happily concluded and left fans at the highest moods he could ever take them, leaving a lovely message of love for all Sean Kingston Ugandan and African Fans. Saying; "I love my mother land Africa, I love Uganda, Thank you all".

Thinking that everything was done, it was now time for Sean Kingston’s disappointment, when JK Kazoora the Mc of the day high-jacked him to do jewelry exchange on stage.

The Perfect Sound, colurful stage and lighting was organized and managed by Silk events.

Unlike many past concerts at Lugogo Cricket oval, Security at Sean Kingston concert has been tight as promised to protect against crime. I believe Aly, Talent Africa and Club did a tremendous job.

Sean Kingston Live Concert in Kampala has been an extremely successful; it was attended by more than 25k people of all races and classes. Indeed it is the biggest international concert of the year 2011.

However, People in the V.I.P complained about its poor arrangement despite the Nice Open Bar and some people in the V-V.I.P section came down to the VIP who had also joined the General Section where the FUN was to the Fullest.

Sean Kingston Live Concert was organized by Talent Africa and proudly sponsored by Club beer ‘Brewed Longer, Easier drinking’ .

By 12:03 am Saturday 17th, Fans were happily matching out of Lugogo cricket oval to different destinations whereas Sean Kingston was stepping out to have some rest at Serena hotel and prepare for the after party with DJ Shiru at club Silk in industrial area.

Tomorrow, Sean Kingston will be performing live in Kigali, Rwanda. You can’t miss out on this great chance.
