GNL, Prof Bigg Eye and Others Oppose Copyright Law.

This is courtesy of bigeye.ug

You may now have to think twice if you thought all artistes would support copyright enforcement. Following the taxation hunt, artistes decided to avenge by lobbying for the effecting of the Copyright law to the dot. Among those who pushed so hard for it are Bobi Wine, Chameleone, Ragga Dee and Geoffrey Lutaaya.

However other artistes are playing on a completely different note.

GNL ZAMBA, the CEO of Baboon Forest entertainment asserted his views of the copyright law.
“I am surprised that only a handful of guys in my trade understand WTF copyright in Uganda is or what it intends to achieve, someone yesterday wanted me to sign on a petition and even tried to convince me that it is a disease......lol i guess what should be done is give this whole hullabaloo time (at least 6months) and educate the players and the public first coz if it has to work, it has to be holistic. NB. Copyright enforcement is inevitable might happen in my generation if UPRS shows transparency and if the authority is willing to commit minds to education of the law first before enforcement.”

According to GNL, artistes don’t really understand what they are lobbying for and it will hurt the upcoming artistes whose music needs to be played. Prof Bigg eye also added his views on the issue by saying that everyone in Uganda has a right to his music since he was not yet under copyright. To further back-up GNL, Navio shared his status on his facebook page.

One of Professors fans had this to comment about his anti copyright law Facebook status status, "wats wrong wit t,thout it will put a smile on yo face,we r safe,im in d movie sector, but these guys wea eatin our wrks,im hppy 4 t bro." Another fan, Ricky, had this to say "Wats that copyright bullsh** ? U guyz want to mean we wont hv musik in our Cars ??? House ??? Office ??? Coz we gut to give u some dimes , we hv supported u enough coz I understand it people who come to these launches of yours so dnt bother us ....Ok....

GRAVITY OMUTUJJU MC Signs Contract with BIG TALENT.

Like they say, this world is full of Surprises.

This is what happened yesterday (Tuesday evening) when Gravity Omutujju MC of the Mighty Sawagazilla Tune and Walumbe Zaaya rmx penned a deal with Eddy Kenzo's Big Talent.

Many Dailies have been writing about the Scuffle that has been going on between GNL ZAMBA - C.E.O of Baboon Forest Ent. (B.F.E) and Eddy Kenzo of BIG TALENT. Both of them wanted to get Omutujju's Signature to their Crews, but yesterday marked the end of the Battle.

Gravity Omutujju MC is well known for his Creativity on the Mic especially in terms of Luga Flo and it seemed obvious that he would join the BABOONS ie: GNL, MUN_G & BIG TRILL.

Many Ugandans took it to TWITTER and FACEBOOK to express their views.

LilPink Emmie wrote: He did a cover version of walumbe ezaaya bt stil young to join BFE.

Kat Vianney: As to me, Gravity to join BFE it was goin to be a blast 4 him to raise up on greater heights of Luga Flow.. But if he likes BIG TALENT i respect his decission.

Violet Cathy Nakamaanya: Ya y big talent its nt his typ of music i think he wud hv done beta at BFE.

Just throw in yo View..., Do you Question his Decision..???

Is Africa witnessing The Rise and Fall of GNL ZAMBA..???

“What goes up must come down” is and old English saying or rather those arguments forwarded by Sir Isaac Newton but later found to be true.

To prove its meaning, one may point at all the world’s greatest men/conquerors that shot up through years but came down within just minutes. Julius Ceaser, Napoleon Bonaparte, Adolf Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, Muammar Gaddafi; they all had their times and left the scene.

Flash forward to Uganda’s’ music scenery where he came and assumed the name of Greatness With No Limit, loosely shortened as GNL or better known as GNL Zamba.

Born Ernest Nsimbi; he came, paralyzed the scene and even quickly assumed the subtitle-King of Luga flow. Not that he was too good at it, but rather he popularized a genre-vernacular rap known elsewhere as Hip-hop to even the less interested audience.

Wherever he started, we are less interested but rather ask; what is left of him? Not so long ago, there were people such as Rocky Giant, Sylvester and Abraham, Babaluku, Krazy Native, Klear Kut, and a few others who were in the hip-hop game and as a matter of fact, he tried to prove them wrong and even went on to diss them.

This country was watching and nevertheless he gave us hits like; Koi Koi, Kikankane, Luka, Soda and Wuuba among others, not to mention the duets with a number of artistes from 2007 to 2010.

For only 3 years, the greatness had reached a limit and his delivery was falling back to the line of an upcoming artiste. While he regards himself as the President of the crew whose major work is to coordinate activities, he can today be best summed up in the ‘league of music mediocres’.

Remember those arguments; who is who between GNL and Navio? The answer is now clear!

Latest from the Baboon Forest camp is that newcomer Keko, who recently quite Shadrack’s Platinum Entertainment has left the group on the fact that the group has nothing to offer anymore especially to her bigger ambitions.

This leaves only Mun G and Big Trill as the only bull in the kraal, but will they stand to long with a leader who has nothing to offer. Apparently words from the corner have it that, the leader even failed to coordinate Mun G’s album launch which was scheduled for somewhere in the year.

Whether he is or not, upcoming artistes have lessons to draw from GNL’s tale; who came, rubbished everybody, thinking he had come to stay. That poses a question; what is left for the Baboon Forest? If answered well, the conclusion may be the rise and fall of the Luga-flow maestro.

The views expressed in this article are not necessarily those of Andrea The Don.
