She hasn't even had time to send a baby gift because she's been away." King added, "Let me just say, if (that report is) true, it is news to her. It is news to her. You know, she was heading to South Africa when the baby was born." Blue Ivy was born on Saturday, January 7, 2012. (CBS News)

"He's Crazy. He's Like, 'You're The Next Tupac!'"

With the Internet still buzzing over hip-hop newcomer Iggy Azalea inking an Interscope Records deal this week, the Australian emcee has come forward to dish out more details on her situation.

Although Def Jam seemed promising, Iggy said after careful longterm consideration and some words with Interscope CEO Jimmy Iovine, her decision was a no-brainer.

"I think they [labels] have things that they specialize in. Def Jam, I love. I was super close to signing with them. I think they're just the best team. I think they're really passionate about what they do and you can just tell that they're so hungry over there. But then you look at who they've got signed to their label and it kind of makes you be like, 'I don't know.

Am I going to be the guinea pig here for this?' I don't know. ... I think once Jimmy [Iovine] saw that I was starting to pull away and be like, 'No, I'll just do my own thing,' he was like, 'What do you want lady?' And I was like, 'Alright, let's cut the bullsh*t.' ... He's crazy. He's like, 'You're the next Tupac!' I'm like you're absolutely insane. But I love it!" (Billboard)

Jackie O Should Quit Singing.

I wouldn’t be writing this if Jackie O had not featured on the same song with the Gud Lyf: “Pollination”. Why choose a melodic magician like Radio to be on your song if you can’t really sing…???

Pollination is a song that is loved by almost every Ugandan because it’s Love and statistics show that 95% of Music in this world is Love Lyrics. It talks about a gal who wants to be with a guy yet the guy wants to be with another Gal.

I first watched the Video and I was really taken up by the Location – J & M Hotel on Ebb Rd, the Attires, Camera Angles, Brilliant Editing, Lighting and everything about it is just great. Talk about the Audio Production, the Beat is so lovely.

But watching the Intro of the Video, I saw: Radio and Weasle ft Obsessions…!!!!. I saw Jackie O, then waited to see the Big Brother Representative Sharon O but she was no where to be seen. So, why call it Obsessions when it’s only Jackie O who’s appearing… Huh…!!!!

Let’s put the Video aside and talk about the Vocals…

Radio kicked of the Song in a Fantabulous Line: “When you really Love somebody…” followed by Weasle spicing it with a bit of Jamaican Flavor. Radio then opens up with the Chorus: “Njagala kubeera wooli”. The way Jackie O backed him up was so FABOLOUS in a way that I said to my brother, Juliana should step aside and Jackie O takes over as the Queen of Melody in our Banana Republic.

I enjoyed Radio’s Verse plus Jackie’s back up Voice anxiously waiting for her Verse. But when her Verse came up….Grrrrrrrrrr….Eeeewwwwwwww….. I lost my Fried Fish appetite instantly.
The Voice was so crooked, Rough, No key at all and it took away all her Beauty she portrays in the Video. When you compare Radios smooth voice followed by Jackie’s non-key voice, you can even break the CD and throw all the pieces away for Good.

Question for Jackie O:
Why do you choose a Magical Melodic Voice like Radio to team up for a collabo…huh…???

Sometimes I question the Ambitions of our Artistes. They Lack Vision and they don’t know where they are going. Both Jackie O and Sharon O should rejuvenate OBSESSIONS back to its Dance Origins, and this also goes to you Ronnie-C.E.O of Obsessions.

FINAL VERDICT:
Jackie O should quit Singing. If not, let her stay as a back up Vocalist. We have so many artistes who would love your services. E.g.: Bebe Kool, Jose. C, Bobi Wine. I hear even DJ Michael wants back up vocalists.
But don’t you dare try approaching Juliana, you’ll get a Heavy Slap for nothing yet we still need your Beauty in Ugandan Music Videos.

Snoop Dogg's Marijuana Arrest, Fine Details Revealed.

West Coast rapper Snoop Dogg does not have to worry about breaking his bank to cover the cost of an attorney for his recent marijuana possession arrest as new reports claim the fine is just over $500.

Well, the pot-loving musician had to make arrangements with the court in Hudspeth County by Friday and RumorFix has learned exclusively that he's done just that and was fined a whopping $537.

In 2009, the singer talked about reuniting with Rule for a VH1 Hip Hop Honors performance.

"It's been great," she said in an interview. "I haven't performed with Ja since -- I can't even remember it's been so long. We talked to each other on the phone and we said, 'Yo, we gonna make it hot! It's gonna be like old times.' It feels good. When we did the rehearsal, the chemistry was there." (MTV)

Already serving two years for his 2007 gun conviction, Rule was issued two additional charges for tax evasion last July.

Rapper Jeffrey Atkins, also known as Ja Rule, was sentenced Monday to 28 months in prison for failing to file tax returns with the IRS after admitting that he did not file his taxes for five years, the Justice Department said in a news release Monday. The 35-year-old performer from Saddle River, New Jersey, had pleaded guilty to three of five counts before U.S. Magistrate Judge Patty Shwartz, who imposed the sentence in Newark federal court. The Top 10 Most Popular Hip Hop Singles The Week Of 1/16/2012.

This week a Nas featured track from K'Naan takes the cake, while lots of the new school run things with some old school sprinkled in.

The proverbial "Changing of the Guard" in Hip Hop is something that fans both fear and question with every next generation in the rap game. The same prominent figures have stuck for a good long while (reflected below), but what's interesting to see is this new class of emcees gaining attention. This week we strike a near perfect balance of old and new, with current artists jumping on the list and veterans still holding down their places firmly. It's safe to say there's something for everybody this time.
Nas, Common, T.I. and Jay-Z Represent the Veterans

This week, Nas checks in at the top of the list with K'Naan. You may remember that these two worked together when K'Naan joined Nas and Damien Marley on "Africa Must Wake Up" off the Distant Relatives project. Now Nas returns the favor with "Nothing To Lose" and the payoff was major as it hit #1. Jay-Z closed the list at #10 with his ode to Blue Ivy aka B.I.C. called "Glory." Somewhere in between? Common's "Stay Schemin" diss to Drake at #3, T.I. and Dre's collab at #7 ("Popped Off" ). It's safe to say the vets consistently get love around these parts (honorable mention to Ja Rule at #8 with "Parachute" ).
Tyler, the Creator, ScHoolboy Q and ASAP Rocky Represent the Newbies

It was a very close call this week. Tyler, the Creator's "Fuck This Election" almost made it to #2. K'Naan and Nas still inched him out, but the competition was stiff. With Odd Future's OF Tape Vol. 2 coming in March, all sorts of material will be surfacing. Further into the rookie pool comes ScHoolboy Q. The Black Hippy just dropped Habits & Contradictions last week and the Lissie-sampled cut "Hands On the Wheel" with ASAP Rocky came in at #5. ASAP strikes again at #6 with "Celebration." ASAP Mob is really all over the place these days; we should expect much more of that. Old favorite rappers, new favorite rappers. Everyone is welcome.

The Top 10 Most Popular Hip Hop Singles The Week Of 1/16/2012

1. K'Naan featuring Nas - Nothing To Lose
2. Tyler, the Creator (OFWGKTA) - Fuck This Election
3. Common - Stay Schemin Remix (Drake Diss)
4. Crooked I - Game Time
5. ScHoolboy Q featuring ASAP Rocky - Hands On the Wheel
6. ASAP Rocky - Celebration
7. T.I. featuring Dr. Dre - Popped Off
8. Ja Rule featuring Leah Siegal - Parachute

10. Jay-Z featuring B.I.C. - Glory

Irv Gotti Expresses Disappointment Over Lack Of CEO At Def Jam

The former Murder Inc. honcho sounds off on why the historical label needs a president.

Irv Gotti recently put in a bid to serve as president of Def Jam, a self-nomination that was supported by several others in the industry. Speaking with TheSource.com, the former Murder Inc. chief said that he’s disappointed that there isn’t anyone in charge at the famed label and how it reflects their attitude on the culture.

“Def Jam, I shouldn’t even comment on it because it makes me angry because there hasn’t been a president of Def Jam since [Jay-Z], really. It’s a terrible thing because it’s so important to the culture and they’re just letting it go away, they ain’t paying no attention to it. I’m from Hollis, Queens, so Def Jam was my inspiration to have Murder Inc. Just for them to have no one being president there, even after all we hooted and hollered, I want it so bad, not even for the money or nothing, I just love the culture. Def Jam is the light of the culture. So to have no one there it’s like, the powers that be, they don’t care about my culture.”

UPDATE: Swizz Beatz Is Not The CEO Of Megaupload, Wasn't Named In Shutdown (VIDEO)

It turns out that Swizzy ISN'T the CEO of the file-sharing site.

The Internet was buzzing today with news about Wikipedia and a host of other websites' blackout protests over the impending SOPA/PIPA legislation. Now, the anti-piracy issue has taken a turn with the recent news that rapper/producer Swizz Beatz is the acting CEO of Megaupload and that he's now facing a major lawsuit.

MTV reports that the multi-platinum producer for DMX and Jay-Z is now fighting a major lawsuit against Universal Music Group and his involvement with the popular storage and file sharing website. Last year, Swizz enlisted Diddy, Will.I.Am, Kanye West and a host of other musicians and media personalities to help film a promotional video in support his site, which has come under fire in the past for it application in the music and video piracy.

These artists' support apparently didn't sit too well with Universal Music Group. The music conglomerate - which owns Hip Hop powerhouses like Def Jam and Interscope - issued a lawsuit and a YouTube take-down notice against the Megaupload video over the song's featured artists, whose appearance they didn't clear. Now, Swizzy and Megaupload are firing back at UMG with a counter-suit.

The video in question can be seen below. I will keep you updated as more information about the suit comes to light.

50 Cent Looking To Skip Global Touring, "It Makes My Album Cycles Two Years Long" [Video]

G-Unit leader 50 Cent recently discussed the status of his delayed Before I Self Destruct follow-up and revealed an intent to drop at least two more albums.

Fif said he could see himself opting out of touring the globe to focus on creating music.

"This time I'm not sure if I'll tour the world like I did on my last projects because it makes my album cycles two years long. So I think I'd like to launch this record and then come right back and launch another record following it because it's been three years since my last album, so I've recorded so much material that I'm really excited about trying to get those ideas to the general public so they get a chance to hear it and appreciate it." (Forbes)

Just last week, Fif hinted at the issues he has with his label, Interscope Records.

"I wrote this album. I went through the process of writing it. It's been discouraging at points to not see the same efforts from everyone," 50 said when asked about his label frustrations and perceived depression. "As far as me partnering with Feeding America for this actual project, the business model that I adapted was -- conscious capitalism. [New album this year?] Hopefully." (CES)

$25,000 Award Offered In Cali Swag District Murder Case

Months after the fatal shooting of Cali Swag District's M-Bone, new reports claim there is a $25,000 award being offered in hopes of getting a lead on the murderer's whereabouts.

Despite the shooting taking place last May, police have yet to place charges onto a suspect, which likely prompted the reward offering.

A $25,000 reward has been offered in the murder of Monte Ray Talbert, known to his fans as "M-Bone" of the hip hop group Cali Swag District. The group made its mark with the hit song "Teach Me How to Dougie." Talbert was shot in the head outside a liquor store in the 400 block of North La Brea Avenue in Inglewood on May 15, 2011. Inglewood officials are offering the reward, hoping it'll lead to the arrest and prosecution of the person responsible for the murder. Anyone with information was asked to call the Inglewood Police Department at (310) 412-5246 or the 24-hour anonymous hotline number at (888) 41-CRIME. (ABC Local)

Following the murder, the late rapper's girlfriend said their neighbor should be considered a suspect.

The girlfriend -- who is scared and does not want her name used -- confirms M-Bone was in a Twitter war with the jealous man, which we previously reported. We're told the jealous man made threats of violence. The girlfriend tells us ... on Sunday ... she picked M-Bone up at the airport at 12:15PM and took him back to their apartment. Later that night, at around 10PM, M-Bone took her car and said he was going to the studio to record. She tells us soon after she got a call from another member of Cali Swag with the devastating news her boyfriend had been shot. (TMZ)

The rapper's life was taken away on May 15th.

Talbert was shot twice in the head Sunday night in the 400 block of North La Brea Avenue, said Lt. Steve Overly of the Inglewood Police Department, when someone pointed a gun out a car window and fired multiple shots. Talbert died later at a hospital. (Los Angeles Times)

Even though he's had trouble dropping even one album as of late, it appears 50 Cent has plans to drop two.

"I kinda think you have to keep the audience engaged a little more [these days]," added 50. "There's a lot of new material that comes out. But it's not from established artists."

"I just felt like because I created so much, I wanted to get it out to them. I'm always excited about the newest idea for myself."

BREAKING NEWS: Swizz Beatz's Megaupload.com Shut Down By Federal Prosecutors.

Shortly after it was revealed that Swizz is the CEO, the Feds shut down the cloud storage site.

Shortly after it was revealed that Swizz Beatz is CEO of Megaupload, the cloud storage site has been closed down by federal prosecutors.

According to the Associated Press, feds in Virginia have shuttered the cyberlocker site, charging its founder Kim Dotcom and others with violating piracy laws. The indictment claims that the site has costed "copyright holders more than $500 million in lost revenue from pirated films and other content."

In December, Swizz helped recruit artists such as Kanye West and Diddy to appear in a video promoting the site, which was once the 13th most trafficked site in the world.

The government said the site facilitated copyright infringement of movies “often before their theatrical release, music, television programs, electronic books, and business and entertainment software on a massive scale.” The government said Megaupload’s “estimated harm” to copyright holders was “well in excess of $500 million.”

The indictment came as the Justice Department said it seized 18 domains in all connected to Megaupload. The agency said it executed more than 20 search warrants in the United States and eight countries, seizing $50 million in assets.

Megaupload, which charges its 150 million members for its file-sharing service, was on the recording and movie industries most-hated lists, often being accusing of facilitating wanton infringement of their members’ copyrights. The indictment claims it induced users to upload copyrighted works for others to download, that it often failed to comply with removal notices from rights holders.

The money laundering charges are connected to allegations Megaupload paid users for uploading infringing content.

Others indicted include:

*Finn Batato, 38, a citizen and resident of Germany, chief marketing officer.
*Julius Bencko, 35, a citizen and resident of Slovakia, graphic designer.
*Sven Echternach, 39, a citizen and resident of Germany, head of business development.
*Mathias Ortmann, 40, a citizen of Germany and resident of both Germany and Hong Kong, chief technical officer co-founder and director.
*Andrus Nomm, 32, a citizen of Estonia and resident of both Turkey and Estonia, software programmer.
*Bram van der Kolk, aka Bramos, 29, a Dutch citizen and resident of both the Netherlands and New Zealand, programmer.

Charli Baltimore Explains Departure From Murder Inc., Says Irv Gotti Had "Personal Issues"

The rapstress says that she parted ways with the label on her own terms.

Charli Baltimore was down with Irv Gotti and Murder Inc. at the height of its success, but left on her own terms. Speaking with Power 105’s Cherry Martinez, the rapstress explained that Gotti’s personal issues got in the way of success and that she decided to part ways with the imprint after riding with the crew for a minute.

“He had the ball, he just couldn’t get it in the hoop. I think a lot of it was personal issues. I don’t think it was even his business savvy. I think he just let certain things get in the way of what was important,” she said. “I feel like when I met Irv, he was one way and then as I was leaving, because I left Murder Inc., I wasn’t kicked off, I wasn’t dropped, I left. It was a little crazy. It was a little gangster, actually. We don’t got to get into the ifs, ands, and buts of what I did and how I did what I did, but it was a little gangster. Me and Irv didn’t speak for four years.”

Baltimore, who is working with producers Streetrunner, Mista Raja, Mr. Porter and Frequency as well as Joe Budden on her next LP, says that she recently spoke with Gotti to seek his opinion on new cuts.

“Actually, I was just talking to Irv recently where I kind of tried to pull him in a little bit with the record I’m doing, because I respect his ear so much. To me, he has a great ear and everybody, like I said, has their own opinion. But for me, creatively, we’re always on the same page. He’s able to bring out great things out of me creatively, as far as my writing.”

UPDATE: Beyonce's Camp Calls Post-Baby Interview Fake, Star Magazine Responds.

Tensions are rising between Beyonce Knowles-Carter's camp and a British publication regarding a speculated falsified interview with the new mother.

While Beyonce's camp claims the interview is fake, Star magazine has stood by its transcript.

Although the British publication was widely mentioned across the internet on Tuesday, in association with quotes about motherhood attributed to the new mom, her rep insists it's not a real interview. "Completely made up," the rep told Access. However, when reached by Access Hollywood on Tuesday, an editor for the magazine said the publication stands by their story. "It is not made up or fictitious at all. We bought the interview from a reporter in the U.S. who conducted the interview with Beyonce before the birth. The reporter then obtained the 'top-up' info after the birth, which we believe to have been signed off by a girl on her LSM team," the Star UK editor told Access Hollywood. (Access Hollywood)

Despite the publication's claims, the story cites Beyonce giving her first post-baby birth interview.

Talking exclusively to Star in her first interview since giving birth, Beyonce Knowles told us she had an "instant connection" with her daughter Blue Ivy. She told us: "Nothing can describe the feeling. You have the instant connection once you know your child is growing inside you, but when you hold it for the first time, the words can't be found. It's an old cliche that the thing expectant moms look forward to the most is holding their child in their arms for the first time, but it's one of those clichés that is a real truth. I am so excited. From the time I knew I was pregnant we have been parents. A child is the greatest gift you can receive, and we are so excited and blessed to be in this situation. We are all great, we are just glad to be going home and starting this new stage of our life. The hospital staff have all been so great, but we were ready to go home and show our beautiful daughter where she will be living." (Star Magazine)

NABBI OMUKAZI ATTACKS BUGEMBE, DENIED ACCESS TO STUDIOS.

All along, we have been fed with BIFF in the Kidandali Sector and looks like Ugandans had got used to it. Only to wake up in the morning when the Virus had spread to the Holy Land.

It all started when the re-known Maggie Kayima populary known as Nabbi Omukazi recorded a song "Ani Mulabe wa Kanisa" attacking fellow Gospel Artiste: Pastor Wilson Bugembe. Robert Falcon Scott once wrote: “But we have been to the Pole and we shall die like gentlemen. I regret only for the women we leave behind.” Pastor Bugembe acted like a gentleman and never retaliated.

As if that was not enough, all Video Producers in Uganda refused to shoot and produce the video for her new song forcing her to fly all the way to South Africa to do the shooting as well as production.

Now Drama unfolded when Nabbi Omukazi returned to Uganda and a few weeks later, she decides to go and record a song at FIRE RECORDS. This was the most perfect timing for PAYBACK TIME.
The Ghetto President H.E Bobi Wine refused her to step her foot in both FIRE RECORDS and DREAMS STUDIOS. Bobi decided to do this because in the song "Ani Mulabe W'akanisa", she directly hits Pastor Bugembe for being Friends with Ganja Smokers especially his friendship with Bobi Wine.

But like the saying goes: Do as i say but don’t do as i do. Let’s hope the followers of Nabbi Omukazi won't do what she's portraying and that also goes to Pastor Wilson Bugembe's followers. And Ugandans should just get used to the fact that our Music Industry survives on BEEF. If you don’t beef, you won’t have Lyrics to write.

Rick Ross' 'Maybach Music' Girl Speaks, "I Need To Be Getting Paid For These Songs"

After making Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group renowned with her signature voice, the woman behind appearing at the intro of practically every MMG record has finally been unveiled as Australian model Jessica Gomes.

Claiming she did the "Maybach Music" voiceover around 2008, Gomes said the opportunity came from being good friends with rap mogul Jay-Z.

"Right, Jay-Z and Rick Ross. It was at the beginning of the ['Maybach Music'] track. It was another girl talking and then she says, 'What is this?' and I say 'It's Maybach music' and then we both say 'I like this Maybach music.' And we both go 'Sweet,'" she explained in an interview. "We were just hanging out with friends in the studio and then it just happened. We got behind the mic, started talking and that was it, really. They decided to put it in their song and nothing came about. But now everyone's using my part where I say "Maybach Music." Even A-Trak, who's a friend of mine, the DJ, asked 'Have you heard this song?' And I said 'No.'"

Despite being on tons of records, Gomes claims she has yet to receive a single penny for the voiceovers.

"Really! I need to be getting paid for these songs," Gomes added when told she has likely been used in 50 songs. "[Am I getting paid?] No! [Should I?] Now I do. Because it's hot and it's out there. [Have I talked to Ross about the voiceover?] No. Not at all. I haven't had a conversation with any of them about it."

A few days ago, Gomes also hopped on Twitter and confirmed she is the voice behind "Maybach Music."

For years, we've been wondering who the extremely hot-sounding woman behind this vocal is and it turns out that she is, in fact, extremely hot. It's Australian supermodel Jessica Gomes. The same chick who appeared on our cover in 2007, Diddy's Unforgivable commercial. "Maybach Music. Ha," she tweeted. That tweet is all the confirmation we have that Jessica's vocals are on the drop, but she has re-tweeted fans who call her the "Maybach Music lady," so we'll take that as a yes.

Jay-Z & Beyonce's Newborn Daughter's Name Gets Kushed

Just a week after the birth of Jay-Z and Beyonce's daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, reports are claiming their newborn's name is being used to push drugs in California.

According to reports, their daughter's name is getting stamped in Los Angeles.

Several weed dispensaries in Los Angeles are selling a new strain of pot called "OG Blue Ivy." Of course, Beyonce and Jay-Z didn't sign off on the new strain, but they don't have a trademark on their daughter's name and so far the stores haven't received any sort of legal notice from the couple. A medical marijuana dispensary called 661 Medical in Rosamond, Calif. promoted a new strain called "Ivy Blue OG" by tweeting on Jan. 12: "#newstrain #newstrain #newstrain IVY BLUE OG #kush $20 gram $55 8th #newstrain."

Additional reporting claim Jay and Hov have no hand in their daughter's name getting used at the marijuana dispensaries.

Beyonce and Jay-Z's baby Blue Ivy isn't just the youngest person to appear on the Billboard charts -- she's also the youngest person to have her own strain of marijuana named after her. TMZ has learned, multiple weed dispensaries in Hollywood are cashing in on hip hop's baby princess ... by selling a new strain of marijuana called "OG Blue Ivy." Obviously Bee and Hova didn't sign off on the new strain -- but so far, none of the dispensaries have received any sort of legal notice from the couple. 99 problems, but a kush ain't one.

Birdman Announces New Album "Like Father, Like Son 2: Tha Last Mob"

Stunna reveals the follow-up to 2006's collaborative album with Lil Wayne.

Birdman has announced the release of an upcoming album Like Father, Like Son 2: Tha Last Mob, set to release through Cash Money.

Though details on the album are scarce, Stunna took to Twitter to make the announcement of the project, which serves as the follow-up to 2006's Like Father, Like Son, his collaborative LP with Lil Wayne.

The album has roots as far back as September 2010, where he said it would drop some time in 2011. But in April 2011, Baby gave an interview where he discussed the potential for the album sequel's release, projecting that it would release in December 2011.

"We're looking to do that in December some time, after we all drop our solos albums and go on tour," explained Birdman. "We have a lot of songs we did before (Wayne) went (to jail), and we've been working since he came home. All we've got to do is pick. And Wayne likes to be fresh with our music, so we might wait... and just knock out 20 songs right quick and put those on the album."

Papoose Talks Going Independent & Drake Vs. Common

Papoose speaks on going the indie route and opines on the Drizzy/Com beef.

In a recent interview with Kevin W. Reese on Hot 93.7, Papoose discussed the benefits of going the independent route.

"A record label's not stopping you from paying for your own studio time...pressing up your own CD, and selling it to the people," explained Pap. "The more you do it, the more notoriety you will gain as you go along. You're not gonna start at the top, but eventually, if you keep doing it and be consistent, you'll get there."

"There's a lot of advantages to being independent. You make your own money, and make the music of your choice."

Papoose also discussed Drake and Common's beef. "Interesting, man. Because Common is a master lyricist. And I think Drake is nice, too. It'd be interesting to see the outcome. I'm like everyone else. I'm just waiting to see what happens. To me, it's interesting...It ain't gonna be a walk in the park."
